Probably the most original planetarium in the world. Located only 15 minutes away from downtown Cusco and surrounded by beautiful natural environment.
In the midst of the arqueological site of Saqsayhuaman and the ecological reserve of Llaullipata in the city of Cusco-Peru, lies the perfect scenario for a unique cosmic experience; Cusco´s Planetarium.
THERE ARE 3 DIFFERENT STAGES:
INTERPRETATION CENTER
We have a Interpretation Center of the Inca astronomy, here we share stories and interesting facts that help us understand why our ancestors observed the skies as they did, and understand the relationship between the universe and the very practical day to day life.
THE DOME
Another stage is the dome, where we will see a starry sky projection to learn the official constellations as well as the southern skies constellations, and the Incas´ constellation. All these, are accompanied by some fascinating stories. By then we are going to have basic background information to start stargazing.
SKY & TELESCOPE
To finish our visit and depending on the weather conditions, we will show you some treasures of the real skies ( stars, planets, nebulae, constellations of the southern skies) with our telescopes and you will learn how to identify them from the southern hemisphere.
INFRASTRUCTURE
Our center has two interpretation rooms where you can learn the key aspects of the Incan astronomy with informative panels and a didactic lecture by one of our specialists
Our center has a dome with a diameter of 5.5m and enough space for 22 people at a time. In this dome, an astronomy workshop takes place; we project the southern sky in a photographic quality.
The professional telescopes will help us stargaze, different planets, nebulas, multiple star systems, galaxies, and comets, specially from the southern skies, according to weather conditions and time of the year. You can check the astronomical calendar here.

OUR EXPERIENCES
Daily Presentation
Discover the Southern Sky and the inca constellations.
In our group presentations we start at 18:00 in Cusco´s Planetarium.
We provide the transportation round trip.
Our meeting point is Regocijo´s square (also known as Plaza Cusipata) from the middleof the plaza, next to the fountain.
We will pick up all visitors at 17:30, we only wait 10 minutes. Then we walk a couple of blocks to the car that will take us to the planetarium. It is a 10-15minutes ride. The way back is also included.
Every group can be from 4 to 22 people, and we can receive up to two groups simultaneously. Furthermore, we offer our visitors tours in English and Spanish.
Schedule
17:30 Pick up from Regocijo square (Middle of the square, next to the fountain), short walk to the car (Saphi street)
18:05 Arrival to Planetarium Cusco
18:10 Introduction to Inca astronomy in our interpretation rooms
18:40 Virtual projection of the southern sky and inka constellations in the dome
19:10 Stargazing with telescope (Depending on weather conditions)
19:40 Return to the city
*The order of this may vary in case we ca improve the chances for stargazing
Private Presentation
If you want to enjoy this experience just for you and your group, you can book a private presentation.
The private presentations are done at 19:30, second shift.
The experience is the same but just for you. Interpretation room, the dome and the stargazing (always depending on weather conditions)
You can request this with all your reservation and it will be confirmed.
