DAY 1: SANTA CRUZ ISLAND – HIGHLANDS (L)
Your journey begins upon arriving at the Baltra airport, where you will be met by a member of our staff. From the airport, you’ll be transported by shuttle to the Itabaca Channel, and, after a short ferry ride, you will arrive on Santa Cruz Island.
Once on Santa Cruz, we journey across the island into the highlands, experiencing the island’s variety of wildlife and landscapes along the way. In the highland area, we’ll make a stop at one of the ranches where we will have the chance to have lunch surrounded by the archipelago’s iconic giant tortoise species, which are easily observable in the area.
After this visit we will head to Puerto Ayora to check into our selected hotel
DAY 2 & 3: NAVIGABLE EXCURSION TO A NEARBY ISLAND (B, L)
The next couple of days we will have the opportunity to enjoy a daily tour to one of the nearby islands as an opportunity to discover the diversity of the Galapagos Islands. These tours are subject to availability to one of the following islands:
Bartolome Island: We will discover an amazing landscape as well as fascinating geological formations like Pinnacle Rock. Here we will have a great opportunity for snorkeling.
North Seymour Island: The main species on this island are the Land Iguanas, the Magnificent Frigate Birds, characterized by their incredible scarlet pouch, the famous blue-footed boobies, and their particular courtship dance as well as the playful sea lions surfing across the waves.
South Plazas Island: This is a small island, yet it has an outstanding concentration of wildlife, dramatic cliffs, spectacular natural red carpet of algae and great contrasts to be seen
Santa Fe Island: This island has a lot of diversity. The lagoons of the Santa Fe Island provide an excellent place for snorkeling alongside colorful fish, sea lions, giant tuna and even small sharks that are often sited in these environments.
** Note: In case of full board plan, dinner will be set at a local restaurant in town.
DAY 4: CHARLES DARWIN STATION – TRANSFER TO ISABELA ISLAND (B)
After breakfast, we will head to the Charles Darwin Station. This center is a reservoir of information on habitats and local conservation as well as other fascinating relevant statistics. The most striking attraction of this station is certainly the Tortoise Breeding Center, where we can view and learn more about the tortoises of varied sizes and shapes. Travelers here can freely walk and get their photos clicked with the tortoises. In the afternoon, we will take a speedboat to get to Isabela Island. This island is the biggest and youngest of the Galapagos Archipelago. After two and a half hours of navigation, we will be transferred to our selected hotel and have the rest of the afternoon free. Accommodation at selected hotel.
** Note: In case of full board plan, dinner will be set at a local restaurant in town.
DAY 5: CAPE ROSE TUNNELS & TORTOISE BREEDING CENTER (B, BL)
Today, we will visit a unique place on the islands, “Los Tuneles”. Our adventure starts onboard our speed boat with a 45-minute trip. Our experienced captain will safely lead us across the waves that normally hide this treasure. The Tunnels were formed millions of years ago when rivers of liquid magma ran across the island reaching its coastal shore. The cold water froze their superficial layer isolating the interior while liquid magma kept flowing into the sea. When the eruption ended, a hollow structure was formed and its wall later broke allowing water to seep inside, creating a tunnel. Our guide will join us along hundreds of tunnels while we snorkel and encounter marine life such as sharks, lobsters, penguins, sea lions, boobies, sea turtles among other endemic species of the Galapagos. A snack will be served onboard our boat. If lucky enough, we will have the chance to see giant manta rays feeding in open water.
Later on, we will return to Puerto Villamil, and in the afternoon, we will also visit the Tortoise Breeding Center, where we’ll learn more about the efforts taken to preserve and promote the reproduction of some of the Giant Tortoise species found in the Galapagos. After this visit, we will return to our selected hotel for our overnight stay.
** Note: In case of full board plan, dinner will be set at a local restaurant in town.
DAY 6: AIRPORT TRANSFER – FLIGHT BACK (B)
After breakfast, early in the morning, you will be transferred to the port in Puerto Villamil to take a speedboat trip back to Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz. Upon arrival, a tour guide will drive you to the Baltra airport and help you with the check-in process to take your flight back to the mainland. END OF SERVICES
